NemeriX, a fabless semiconductor company specializing in ultra low power semiconductors and solutions for GPS and location-based services, today announces NeX - NemeriX's Extended Ephemeris solution. NeX enables mobile devices to acquire immediate positioning information "deep-indoors", in difficult garage scenarios, and in the harshest multi-path environments.
NemeriX's Extended Ephemeris is a key component of Assisted GPS (A-GPS) which enables GPS platforms to operate where direct satellite data is unavailable. The innovative implementation developed by NemeriX allows for transmission over a multitude of communication media to deliver maximum availability and unparalleled accuracy.
The compacted firmware enables quicker transmissions and uses less bandwidth than competing methods. With a time-to-first-fix (TTFF) of less than one-fifth the time of competing solutions, coupled with increased positioning accuracy of less than 30 meters, NeX will enable handset manufacturers and service providers to develop new and differentiated location-based services.
Today's current Extended Ephemeris solutions require the implementation of a costly server network and client-side software. In a departure from its competition, NeX is offered free with NemeriX's GPS integrated circuits, and is also server independent, removing the need for additional servers and infrastructure and reducing overall system cost. NeX's unique architecture has the capability to be extendable to 21 days - 50 per cent longer than any solution on the market today.
