Airbiquity, a company that develops wireless in-band modem software products, today announced its expansion into Europe with the addition of offices located in Belgium and the UK.
Growing demand for automotive telematics technology particularly exists in the European marketplace since the advent of the eCall initiative in 2002. Telematics features such as the automatic in-vehicle emergency service—which sends a signal to the emergency call center that an incident has occurred—will be required in all European cars by 2010.
For the past 18 months, Airbiquity has been actively involved in the Pan-European eCall initiative. “Airbiquity’s technology is already deployed in over four million vehicles as part of the largest telematics deployment in the world. Our technology helps save lives and we’re excited for the opportunity to bring our solution to the European market,’ says Kamyar Moinzadeh, Airbiquity president and CEO.
