Leading European directory provider selects m-spatial’s Local Search and Discovery Engine to bring mobile local search to 65 million subscribers.
m-spatial announced a strategic partnership with Seat Pagine Gialle (Seat PG) to provide mobile local search services to customers in Italy. One of the largest directory provider groups in Europe and market leader in Italy, Seat PG is using m-spatial’s Local Search and Discovery Engine (LSDE) to enable Italian consumers to access information on local businesses through their mobile phones, based on their location. The service will be launched through mobile operator portals in Italy.
As a cornerstone of Seat PG’s strategic developments for mobile, m-spatial’s LSDE will be integrated with Seat PG’s business listings and search capabilities. The service will integrate and renew the existing Seat PG TuttoCitta Mobile service and Seat PG’s PagineBianche (White Pages) and PagineGialle (Yellow Pages) mobile services to provide a single seamless mobile user experience that is fully integrated with Seat PG’s web services – a critical factor in maximising consumer usage via the mobile channel.
“Offering a compelling and easy to use mobile local search service has become hugely important for consumer satisfaction” said Paolo Cellini, Head of Internet Division of Seat PG. “In addition, mobile services also provide an opportunity for our local merchants to promote themselves to consumers who often have an immediate intention to purchase goods or services. We selected m-spatial because of its proven mobile experience and unique LSDE product. The new service will deliver a market leading user experience and will benefit our consumer customers and local merchants alike.”
Andy Walker, CEO at m-spatial said, “Offering consumers immediate access to local information about businesses and amenities via their mobile phones is becoming increasingly important in the wider battle between directory providers, search engines and other players. We are delighted to be selected by Seat PG, and this partnership is further validation of the LSDE’s market leading capabilities for connecting local merchants with consumers and offering a highly personalised and intuitive mobile local search experience.”
The new service will be branded by Seat PG and is planned to be released to Italy’s 65 million mobile subscribers via the mobile portals of the major Italian mobile operators.
