M-spatial announces the addition of new content and functionality to the Orange Finder mobile local search service available on the Orange Wolrd Portal.
Built on m-spatial's unique Local Search and Discovery Engine (LSDE)™, Orange Finder now features exclusive content from an increasing array of providers including Active Hotels and an enriched user interface.
Part of an ongoing programme to provide an increasingly intuitive, personalised and compelling search experience for consumers, the new features delivered by LSDE include:
New rich content: integration of new third party content including business descriptions and photographs. Additional branded content includes Active Hotels which provides detailed information and a booking service for over 15,000 European hotels, and 5pm, which offers detailed information and a booking service for restaurants across the UK.
Increasing personalisation: creation of a 'favourites list' to provide an immediate view of a saved location for daily use, e.g. home town, or for repeat access to a business or amenity, e.g. when planning an event.
Additional search options: expansion of search options to include 'search by category' to further compliment the existing 'discovery' based interface
Launched in December 2005, Orange Finder provides rapid access to detailed information for over 2 million businesses and amenities in the UK, and live and dynamic local information such as traffic and travel, entertainment venues and gigs, business descriptions, photographs and listings.
Gavin Shurmer, Head of Third Party Services for Orange UK, said: "Since launch, Orange Finder has proved to be a very popular service on the Orange World Portal, with traffic increasing month on month. By developing the functionality of the service and delivering a new range of content, Orange Finder aims to capitalise on this growing consumer demand and provide the market's most compelling mobile search experience."
Andy Walker, CEO of m-spatial, said: "A highly personalised and intuitive user experience is vital to realise the incredible potential of mobile local search. We've been listening carefully to consumer feedback and have added the 'favourites list' and made a number of improvements to the user interface. In addition, the delivery of new content proves our commitment to delivering a single access point to an increasing range of services, both from our own community and from the vast array of services already on the Orange World portal."
Jennie Binks, UK Distribution Manager, Active Hotels, said: "With on-the-move access to over 15,000 hotels, this is an exciting initiative for Active Hotels. Receiving instantly bookable hotel information via mobile phone is of tremendous benefit for business and leisure customers when travelling in an unfamiliar city. More significantly, m-spatial has enabled us to create a direct channel for our hoteliers to an expanding community of portal users."
