Location Labs provides its mobile device management platform for Verizon Wireless’ new parental controls service FamilyBase available on all leading handsets.
Location Labs announced recently that Verizon Wireless’s FamilyBase parental controls service was built on the Location Labs mobile device management (MDM) platform. Since the platform integrates mobile phone information and capabilities with carrier network information and capabilities, it gives FamilyBase subscribers a level of insight into and control over phone use previously unavailable with any comparable service. This platform integration also allows the service to work on all Verizon Wireless phones, including Android, iPhone, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and BREW devices.
Considering the rapid adoption of smartphones by kids aged 12 to 17, Location Labs and Verizon Wireless built FamilyBase to address this growing market need for effective and unobtrusive parental phone control technology. The Location Labs MDM platform generates insights about when kids text and call, who they contact most and their app activity, and integrates this information with Verizon’s existing Usage Controls service. The upgraded service gives parents the most comprehensive analysis and control of family phone activity available. FamilyBase features are all accessible not just from desktops, but also via apps and mobile web experiences built by Location Labs for Android, BREW and iPhone.
“With the launch of Verizon FamilyBase, Location Labs services are now available through all four Tier 1 US wireless carriers,” said Founder & CEO Tasso Roumeliotis. “Our MDM platform is already pre-loaded on tens of millions of devices across other major carriers nationwide, and we’re looking forward to extending this footprint. We’re pleased to work with Verizon Wireless to enable even more families to easily see and intelligently regulate what kids really do on their phones.”
