Germany's second largest insurance group offers Mein coPilot that consists of automatic crash detection and alerting as well as stolen vehicle tracking.
The Public Insurers, Germany's second largest insurance group with a market share of about 11 percent, have decided to implement telematics services for their members' auto insurance offerings.
"Mein CoPilot" (My CoPilot) offers security and safety services like automatic crash notification and stolen vehicle tracking. The technology behind the programs is provided by the Italian company Octo Telematics, which is already delivering such services to more than one million clients and strengthens its market leadership again with this first insurance telematics project in Germany.
The service offerings within the German car insurance market are carbon copies of each other. The only visible difference for the consumer will be the price. The new Public Insurers program clearly differentiates them in the market and enables the group's companies to improve their comprehensive service proposition. The additional security and safety package, called "Mein CoPilot" (My CoPilot), consists of automatic crash detection and alerting as well as localization and tracking of a vehicle in case of theft.
Since the middle of 2010, the services have been extensively tested by the Öffentlichen Versicherungen Sachsen-Anhalt (ÖSA), a member of the Public Insurers group. Now the group through its Association Verband der öffentlichen Versicherer (VÖV) has decided to organize the implementation of the services widely across Germany and has closed a framework agreement with the market-leading supplier of insurance telematics services, Octo Telematics. "We are proud, together with VÖV, to be the first to introduce such services within the German market", says Fabio Sbianchi, CEO of Octo. "With the second largest insurance group in Germany, another strong player has decided to not only compensate for a loss, but also offer a true added value to their insured."
On March 1st, the Provinzial Rheinland Insurance starts with "Mein CoPilot" and within the next weeks, further public insurers will follow. VÖV decided to select Octo as their sole partner because of the company's broad international experience and the offering of a one-stop turnkey solution. With more than 50 insurance partners and a strong presence in Italy, France, Spain, UK, Austria and other countries, Octo Telematics has now made a major commitment into the German market.
