Flixwagon’s LBS Geo Edition App enhances Verizon Wireless’ LBS with live video broadcasting and social networking functions.
Mobile video broadcast and social networking platform provider, Flixwagon is the developer of the “Geo Edition” mobile application which was selected by Verizon to be displayed on 4G LTE devices at their Location Based Services Application booth during the 2011 CES.
Verizon’s LBS Apps booth showcased apps specifically developed using Verizon’s cross-device platform LBS SDK, NavBuilder Inside (NBI). Thus, these apps are enabled with Verizon’s voice-guided 3D GPS Navigation system, the VZ Navigator, and leverage Verizon’s embedded maps, local search and traffic-aware direction location capabilities.
Flixwagon’s Geo Edition solution is the company’s first release on the Android OS. The app integrates the functions of live mobile video broadcasting, social networking, location positioning and a GPS navigation system into one mobile application. The Geo Edition App enables users to visually capture their interests and experiences via live video from a recommended location and use social networks to share their experiences in real-time. The app’s integrated VZ Navigator further enables any viewers of the video broadcast to drive to the very same place without having directions or knowing the specific address of the location.
On the topic of the collaboration, Arie Offner, Chairman of Flixwagon stated that “We believe that Verizon Wireless customers will enjoy how Flixwagon’s Geo Edition App introduces a new and useful way to benefit from shared video clips. We all want to find an easy and smooth way to get to unfamiliar recommended places and by combining our Geo Edition with Verizon’s Navigator it is now possible.”
