Ford and TeleNav team up a second time to launch the next generation of Ford SYNC connected driver technology.
Ford has chosen to once again partner with TeleNav, one of the largest global suppliers of consumer, enterprise and automotive location-based applications to mobile devices, in order to provide connected navigation services to its next generation MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch-equipped vehicles around the world.
Ford previously collaborated with TeleNav to provide second generation Ford SYNC GPS navigation software to deliver real-time information via voice recognition. MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch have the ability to integrate with the Ford SYNC platform to leverage in-vehicle infotainment and telematics systems. MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch utilize a touch screen user interface for interaction with the navigation system. The display includes an 8-inch center touch screen in addition to dual 4.2-inch screens to showcase both full color maps and guidance information. TeleNav’s navigation system is SD card-based, which allows for easy navigation map updates and uninterrupted access to navigation services even in areas where there is limited mobile phone coverage.
MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch are currently available in 2011 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models in the US. The 2011 Ford Explorer will be the next model to showcase MyFord Touch connected navigation services, followed by all new Ford Focuses in markets around the world, such as in China, Europe and South America.
