Loopt’s multi-faceted service delivers more accurate location data to U.S. Cellular mobile phone users needing to pinpoint their location accurately and frequently.
Besides being well known for its friend finder service, U.S. LBS start-up Loopt is also a provider of wireless location infrastructure. Recently it announced that mobile carrier U.S. Cellular, will use the Loopt Location Platform to provide assisted location services to its 6.2 million subscribers. Loopt's Location Platform is built on QPoint location server that has been licensed to Loopt by SnapTrack – a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm. Using this positioning technology, Loopt’s hosted LBS solution currently brings advanced location solutions to multiple U.S. carriers.
Loopt is working with U.S. Cellular on various location experiences for its customers, including mapping and geo-location apps. The operator has leveraged the Loopt Location Platform in their recent partnership with TeleNav and the launch of its new navigation service "Your Navigator Deluxe".
