Apple sold over 1.7 million iPhone 4 in just three days after launch.
Apple has now released the new version of its mobile operating system, iOS 4, which finally brings multitasking to the iPhone 3GS and the new iPhone 4. Apple sold over 1.7 million iPhone 4 in just three days after launch. Existing users of the iPhone 3GS now upgrade to iOS 4 to make use of the new feature. Berg Insight estimates that about 25 million iPhone 3GS handsets have been sold to date worldwide. Multitasking is supported through 7 background APIs, including the background location API that can be leveraged by location sensitive applications such as turn-by-turn navigation. At last, navigation applications can continue to update the position and provide spoken turn-by-turn directions even when the user is using another application on the iPhone. NAVIGON has already announced that the next update of its NAVIGON Mobile Navigator application, multitasking will be supported.
