Native Brightkite LBS social networking application now available for all leading smartphone platforms except Windows Mobile.
Brightkite is a location-based social network that enables users to see what their friends are and what they are doing in real time by posting and viewing photos and notes at locations for others to see. Depending on privacy settings, it is also possible to meet others nearby. In April 2009, Brightkite was acquired by Limbo, a game and social networking community originally founded in 2005. The new combined company, which will use the Brightkite name, claims to have more than 5 million monthly visitors.
Brightkite applications have been available for the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices since 2009. In January 2010, Brightkite also launched its native application for Palm and Symbian smartphones. Nokia users can download the free application from the Ovi Store. The application is compatible with Symbian S60 5th edition handsets such as the Nokia N97 and 5800 XpressMusic.
