Agreement delivers freshest maps of US and Canada on company’s flagship Nextar ME device.
Tele Atlas and consumer electronics developer Nextar announced an agreement under which Tele Atlas supplies digital maps and points of interest (POIs) on the Nextar ME portable navigation device.
The Nextar ME is the company’s flagship entry level navigation system featuring a full range of capabilities at an affordable price. The device sports a 3.5 inch touch screen display, text to speech technology; proprietary magnetic docking station and nearly two million POIs that help make it easier to find the nearest hotel, stores, gas stations or restaurants. The device can also play MP3 files and display JPEG images and is available at Amazon.com and Target retail stores nationwide and online.
“Tele Atlas’ advanced approach to updating maps with community input and its innovative new products gave us every reason to make Tele Atlas digital maps the foundation for one of our most important products,” said Nextar Founder and President Eddy Zheng. “With fresh maps and dynamic content from Tele Atlas, Nextar can add newer capabilities to our products and increase their value to our customers.”
