A new alliance to propel the growth of LBS in Europe.
Mobile Commerce has announced the launch of the Open Location Alliance, along with three other key players in the European mobile search industry. The Alliance has been formed to respond to the requests from global players for pan-European location, location enabled applications and Point of Interest (POI) information targeted at the mass market from mobile devices.
The initial partners in the business alliance with Mobile Commerce are MECOMO - who cover Germany and Austria; Swedish based Visibilly, who cover Sweden, Norway and Finland, and France's Deveryware, all of whom are widely regarded as market leaders in their field. The Alliance will also be seeking partners in other geographical markets to further consolidate their position.
"This is a big step forward to be able to provide pan-European location, services and solutions and we are delighted to be a part of this business venture" said Steve Page, CEO of Mobile Commerce "We have listened to what people in the industry want and responded accordingly, by entering in to a partnership with other European companies who share Mobile Commerce's vision. We will be working together on Codes of Conduct, best practices for location-based services, business models, technologies and solutions to drive the market and lead the industry forward with one clear voice."
